JESUS IS MY SUPERHERO?...Wheres that verse in the Bible???
Ok, now its your turn! Is there anything wrong with the following song?? Both of these songs are written for children...my question is, what are we teaching in the following two songs? What do we want our children to understand about God, themselves and Jesus Christ? I find the first song seriously lacking in theological depth as well as I have a few other concerns (one of which is calling Jesus a Superhero...is that the best we can do? Umm...no, no its not...What about speaking of God as holy, or being created by God, talking of the cross etc...come on, really! We CAN do better!!) but I will leave most of the critiquing to you :-) Let us sing to the Glory of God well!! I am thankful to God for great songs of the faith that give glory to God and talk of the cross of Christ! Do you smell somthing? I think I just opened up 'a can of worms'...well lets' dive in, here we go!!:

You have to remember this is a childrens song! Kids dont understand words like 'glory'and 'soveriegn' and so this song has been written easy for kids to understand so they gain a picture of who God is.

Thank you very much for your comments, they are greatly appreciated. My concern is that the song doesnt paint a proper picture of God. I think it is fine to have lyrics that use simple words and yet they are still biblical and it can be accomplished by using biblical words. The second song I posted is also a childrens song and I was contrasting them both to show that you can have a theological sound song that is simple as well so kids can understand it.
What are your thoughts?

Well, let's see. We want to paint a clear picture of God and Jesus?
Okay,
1 Jesus walked on the water.
2 Jesus raised the dead.
3 Jesus healed the sick.
4 Jesus conquered death and the grave.
All 4 of these things make him better than Spiderman, Superman, Batman and any other man-conjured-superhero. The lyrics are great in my opinion. I would say that the first song would be suitable for a younger kid while the second is more suitable for an older kid.
By the way, the 4 points I've listed are in addition to all of the ones stated in the lyrics.
I see nothing wrong with the either song because they both glorify the Lord and are Biblical.
No, the Bible does not call Jesus a "Superhero," but does that make him any less of one?

Then the song should say Jesus is infinitely superior to any fictional character or superhero
